Pushing this patch out by the end of summer would be rushing it too much. Don’t bother asking about it. I have learned my lesson – giving people a date only gives them an excuse to whine about it. It was stupid of me to provide a date, and that’s why I won’t be providing one any more. So the new release date is going to be everyone’s favorite “it’ll be done when it’s done”. If you are willing to wait and want to continue to follow the project, awesome. If you have lost all faith in me, feel free to leave. I will not ask you to stay. We’ve been working on this project for one year and still people complain about how long it has taken. Many projects have taken much longer. It’s ridiculous that people are unable to wait even that long for something that costs them nothing. All you have to do is sit there. That is all I’m asking anyone to do.

Just because I’m not telling anyone my intended release date doesn’t mean that the pace of the project will change, it just means that it’s no longer public information. My eyes remain focused on the quality of the project. The goal is in sight, but I’m not going to sacrifice my standards for speed. When the day comes to release the patch, I will be able to proudly present it to everyone. Until then, I thank you for your patience.

This video, as I mention in it, is something new that I wanted to try. As promised, I made a poll in the forum. You can just vote or you can post and share your opinions. The main feature this time is the video, so that’s about all I’ve got to say.

I wish I could tell you that we’re making awesome progress, but… well, thing have been a bit slow. Most of the recent progress on ToI has been rather minor. I’ve been working on the skits, but I’m starting with some of the more intricate ones, so I admit to dragging my feet a bit. Motivation is coming and going, but that only affects the speed of the project, not the quality. As always, you can rest assured that we will complete this project. I’ll be setting more small deadlines for myself to ensure that I continue pressing on toward the goal.

I really don’t have much else to say. At this stage of the project, except for major milestones, it’s hard to make any meaningful updates. Just hand in there and we’ll get to the finish line eventually. I thank you for your patience in the mean time. Until next time~

I’m happy to finally announce that the translation is moving into its final stages. Only the skits remain untranslated. Translating the skits will not be a easy task, but every little step puts us closer to completion. The goal is still to complete the project by late summer, but only if we are satisfied with the editing and testing at that point. I anticipate 2-4 weeks of beta testing, so the progress made in next few months will be the real determining factor in the release date. Before long, I will be putting together a list of beta testers. There is a possibility that we may ask for additional testers, so for those interested in helping us work the kinks out of the project, keep your eyes open for that.

While much remains to be done, I, for one, am going to take a moment to enjoy reaching another milestone. Thanks for your continued support! ^_^

In our ongoing quest for popularity, we’ve added yet another naming option to Tales of Innocence. Do you love Japanese but can’t read a word of it? Don’t worry, you’re not alone! We’re here for you! This newest option, Nihongo, will set you up with a fully romanized game to enjoy.

Forget about localized terms and terrible changes to character names, this option will bring you a presentation so true to the original that it would bring the developers to tears. This is the option for the player who wants to feel like they’re sitting under the sakura on Mount Fuji drinking sake and eating sushi.

Some of the major things to notice are that this option brings back the official names for the characters. Ruca and Asras return, of course, but that isn’t where it ends. Thitose will be back as well her former incarnation Konohanasakuyahime (that is Sakuya’s official name as found in the guidebook).

You might also notice that there are some English words remaining in the menu. These, of course, were present in the original game. Even if heaven would forgive someone for changing them, we will not! We’re 100 years too early to consider doing something like that. Who the hell do you think we are!? Only once we have obtained IT could we possibly think about making changes of that magnitude. But we’ll do our best!

People have been speculating for months, but we are indeed working on ToDr. Despite what some believed, Cless and I have been on good terms in spite of Tales of Phantasia (mostly because he’s very forgiving). Lately I’ve really been regretting Tales of Phantasia and all the drama that came of it. I didn’t have the skills that I needed and I really wish I hadn’t stepped on many of the toes that I did. I worked on Phantasia because I loved it, but still, it was too soon for me to attempt a project of that magnitude on my own. I made a lot of mistakes and a lot of claims that I couldn’t live up to. I disappointed some people and I realize that some still worry about my translations. My point is that I’m thrilled to be working with Cless as well as with gogs, Kajitani-Eizan and Carnivol. The three of them have always been the first to tell me when they think I’ve slipped up and there are few people I trust more when it comes to editing. With their help and Cless’ experience working with the PS2, I’m confident that this patch will be one that everyone will love.

As most of you know, this project has been going on behind the scenes for months now. However, Phantasian Productions has been putting most of their time into Tales of Phantasia just as Kingcom and I have been focused on Innocence. From the beginning, Cless and I agreed that Destiny wouldn’t take priority over other projects. Now that’s it has been announced, I expect it to speed up a little bit. The translation is all that is really holding us back from a menu patch, so it really shouldn’t be far off.

Of course, neither Cless nor I like to do things halfway, so our intention from the beginning has been a full translation. The plan is to release the menu patch first and then begin work on the story. The translation will retain many of the original (PSX) Destiny localized terms. Expect to see many of the same ones in the translation (with the exception of some names like Johnny, Mighty Kongman, and Woodrow). We hope that fans of both the original translation and the Japanese text will be able to enjoy this translation.
