Also, I must say I liked the detail of giving the characters a “turning animation”. It somehow justifies the lack of left vs right character models, and on top of that it feels very fluid, even if you’re constantly turning from one side to the other.

yeah, atlus stuff seems to be very good. of course, part of it is that they probably have a support team for the main translator, or even a team of translators. or maybe they have an ace in the hole like alexander o. smith. you’ve played FFXII, right? what did you think of that translation and dub (if you had any experience with the japanese version)? not that i’ve played it in japanese, but i thought the english version was phenomenal — certainly leagues above the often somewhat awkward FFX. it’s amazing that i thought vaan was incredibly lame, what with his victoria beckham styling, ridiculous metal mini-vest, and monstrous abs — that is, until he opened his mouth.

i’m also curious about your opinion of Tales of the Abyss, which i again thought was a mostly great job. the characters talked way, way, way too much, but that’s the original script’s fault. i thought the dub was absolutely great, and the script writing only had a few rare hiccups that i can remember. (let’s put aside the presentation of the skits for a moment :/)
